I am a Father

I am a father,

Ladened with the responsibilities

Crushed under the expectation of the family

And left outside the glorifications of mothers.

I bear all the pain for all their comforts,

Be the punching bag for everyone’s frustrations

Sometimes my throat gets choked and my eyes get moist

Not for the exhaustion but for the contended hearts.

I have no one to blame,

For my failure to comply their needs

Nor could I justify or explain the reasons

I am strapped to a relationship

Where my incompetency is my family shame.

I say no for that expensive toy,

But keep saving against my needs to buy

And he knows in heart of his heart

That I will surely get him that for his joy.

I am tired in the gruelling race of life,

My own dreams remain sealed behind my lips

And my needs shrink to accommodate that of others

My sentiments stifled in rife.

I am the thread in the garland,
